A Rigging Survey entails a complete inspection of:
- The spars
- Standing rigging wire
- Terminals and rigging screws
- Running rigging cordage or wire
- All associated parts to keep the mast standing and the vessel sailing properly
A rigging survey is included as part of a sailing vessel’s Condition & Value survey if the mast is not stepped at the time. If the mast is stepped, only the lower portion can and will be inspected. AquaFacts Marine Surveyors will not ascend masts for inspection, as a proper and thorough inspection cannot be performed from a boson’s chair.
Some insurance companies request a Rigging-Only survey from time to time on older and especially salt-water vessels.
